The XS-DC-32X100-LS-G1 targets teams building 100G leaf/spine fabrics who need
predictable latency and open network automation. Unlike proprietary switches that
lock you into a single NOS, this platform runs Enterprise SONiC (xSONiC OS
profile), giving your network team full control over BGP, EVPN, and VXLAN
configuration through standard APIs and tooling.
The Marvell Teralynx 7 IVM77500 ASIC is the key differentiator. At ~500ns
cut-through latency, it meets the strict timing requirements of RoCEv2 storage
fabrics and AI/ML training clusters where even microsecond-level jitter can
degrade job completion times. The 70 MB packet buffer absorbs microburst
traffic patterns common in data center east-west flows without tail-drop.
Fabric Design Considerations
With 32x 100G QSFP28 ports in a 1RU form factor, this switch works as either
a leaf (connecting to 32 servers at 100G) or a spine (connecting to 32 leaf
switches). The symmetric port count simplifies fat-tree and CLOS topology
design — no oversubscription calculation needed when every port runs at the
same speed.
For teams scaling beyond 32 leaves, pair this switch with the XS-DC-32X100-LS-G2
which adds 400G uplinks for multi-tier fabrics. In a two-tier CLOS with 32
spines, you can support up to 1,024 server-facing 100G ports.
Automation and Operations
The platform supports the full SONiC management stack:
- gNMI for streaming telemetry and real-time state collection
- ZTP (Zero Touch Provisioning) for hands-off switch bootstrapping
- REST API for integration with custom orchestration platforms
- Ansible modules for declarative configuration management
- Python SDK for building custom operational tooling
The Broadwell DE D-1508 CPU with 16 GB DDR4 handles control plane tasks
(route convergence, telemetry export, API serving) without impacting data
plane performance. The 128 GB SSD provides ample space for SONiC images,
configuration backups, and telemetry buffers.
Reliability and Physical Specs
The switch ships with dual hot-swappable AC power supplies (1+1 redundancy)
and five hot-swappable fan modules (4+1 redundancy). Front-to-rear airflow
matches standard cold-aisle/hot-aisle data center layouts. At 12 kg and
44 × 440 × 515 mm, it fits any standard 19-inch rack with 1RU of space.
MTBF exceeds 100,000 hours. The platform carries a 2-year warranty.
